Plan placement before rebuilding

Updated
Start here

Moon Sweepers 1.0.3 allows machines to stand across multiple square foundations. The official examples include Pressure Chambers, Stone Presses and Garages. Old advice that a large machine must fit on a single tile is superseded.

Check the working space before committing

  1. Identify the machine's incoming material and outgoing destination.
  2. Leave room to connect both sides, and for a vehicle to approach if the structure needs one.
  3. Place a compact first setup and test its route before extending the surrounding base.
  4. Inspect the actual removal preview before dismantling an expensive structure.

Can an already-built structure be rotated?

The captured rotation thread contains a brief negative reply and a separate suggestion that some solar panels should follow the sun. It does not establish a reliable rotate-in-place control.

We therefore do not invent a key or promise that every solar model rotates automatically. Decide orientation during placement, and use the actual controls offered by your installed version for any later change.

Do not assume a full refund

The Building refund thread reports a 75% return in a launch scenario. That is a warning that rebuilding can cost money, not a verified universal rate for every object and later patch.

Garage demolition has a separately documented 1.0.3 change preserving owned vehicles. Do not conflate a building's removal refund with the old vehicle-deletion bug.

If placement still fails

Record the machine, surface, orientation and exact message. The cross-foundation fix does not prove that every terrain or obstruction condition has been removed.

Avoid following obsolete bare-ground instructions as though they were a current mandatory setup. First distinguish the old seam restriction from the specific failure you can reproduce now.

Two more placement repairs in 1.0.4

The official 1.0.4 list fixes foundations failing beside ramps and machines failing when snapped side by side. Distinguish those repairs from the older 1.0.3 cross-foundation change.

If placement still fails after updating, keep the exact machine, neighbors and message. These changes do not verify a move-in-place control, a rotation key or a universal demolition refund.

What success looks like

The placed structure has usable inputs, output and access space, and one test load can complete the intended route.
